MIFT Constitution
Article IV: Officers

Section 1: The following local officers shall be elected by secret ballot, for a term of two (2) years by this Federation.

Section 2: Membership in good standing for at least one (1) year is required to hold office.

Section 3: An Election Committee will be approved by the   president with the advice and consent of the   Executive Board.  This committee will supervise the elections as per the election by-laws of this Constitution.  No candidate will be a member of the Election Committee.

Section 4: Nominations will be governed by the Union by-laws.  A member may be a candidate for only one (1) elected office at one time.

Section 5: Elections shall be held in the various buildings the last week in November.

Section 6: In the event that no candidate for a particular office(s) receives a majority of all the votes cast for the office, a run-off election for that office (s) shall be conducted between the two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes as per the by-laws.

Section 7: The new officers shall take office immediately upon certification by the Election Committee.

Section 8: Vacancies in any office, except that of President, shall be filled by the presidential appointment and the approval of the Executive Board.

Section 9: In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice-President will fill the position of President for the remainder of his/her term.

Article V: Chapters

There shall be one (1) chapter of MIFT: MACOMB INTERMEDIATE FEDEREATION OF PARAPROFESSIONALS.

Section 1: The Chapter shall elect their own officers and develop their own by-laws.

Section 2: The chapter shall be solely responsible for the internal matters not affecting the good and welfare of the entire MIFT local.

Section 3: The MIFT may enter into a coalition of other MISD Unions to pursue common good and welfare.

Article VI: Affiliations

Section 1: This Federation shall maintain affiliations with the following organizations:

Whenever possible send delegates to convention and meetings.   Delegates shall be elected by a majority vote. Notice of election shall be sent to the membership at least fifteen (15) days prior to such elections. In the event no delegates are elected, the President shall appoint with the advice and consent of the Executive Boards.

Section 2: Delegates to affiliated organizations shall meet the   same requirements as officers of this local as designated in Article IV, Section 2.
