School/Building: Consultant Services, Education Service Center

Education/Background:
I've been an educator for over 30 years, and 20 of those years with teh MISD. I've been a high school, middle school, junior high, and alternative schoo teacher, principal, and administrator. Currently, I am the Regional Administrator for Career and Technical Education, with responsibility for the careen teh programs in the 21 Macomb County school districts. I have a Bachelor's, two Master's and a Specialist's degree. I keep up with teh CEU's that I need, but now I just take the classes that strike my fancy.

Personal Information:
I have a husband, a teenage son, aging parents, and many good friends. I came to America as a child, my family having escaped from Communist East Germany after the borders were closed. My love of democracy runs deep, coming from the stories of oppression and tyranny with which I was raised. I love gardening, reading, dancing, boating, and good jokes. I vote in every election, no matter how small.

Personal goal for union activity:
Being able to see both sides of an argument is essential to ensuring the fairness of a decision. As well, everyone should have the opportunity to express their opinion and share their thoughts, without fear of reprisal. If these conditions do not exist, the work environment can be a hurtful and unfulfilling place. Providing an atomsphere of professionalism and caring is the main goal of my union activity, with compromise an essential component. The MISD is a great place to work; let's make certain that it's that way for everyone!
